Modeler Word : “With this commission, I wanted to pay homage to one of my favourite characters from the SEED expanded universe, hence Gai Murakumo. Outside of the Red Frame’s cameo in the original OP of the anime, Gai’s Blue Frame was my first exposure to the Astray and I loved it!
I painted this in the Gai’s typical blue livery, throwing a little orange in there for contrast like his Blue Frame. Ultimately I think it looks a little Gouf-y but its not a bad thing at all!. The blues were are all custom mixes using Finisher’s Super Shell White, Super Fine Cobalt, Purple and Pure Black with the frame being my standard mix of frame colour. I had a good bit of fun with the shading here, trying to combine preshading and modulation, but I think I will stick with either one of the two in future as the combined effect is quite lost.
This was definitely a fun build albeit a little simple as an MG which really lends to the suspicion that this was supposed to be a RE1/100 or Full Mechanics kit that got scaled up to wear the MG badge.
