In my world-building project, Imperial China has survived into the space age, expanding its dynastic rule across the cosmos under the name Huaxia (華夏). In this universe, the Imperial Family doesn’t hide behind politics, they fight on the front lines piloting elite mobile suits. To reflect this, their mecha use a strict, prestige-based alphanumeric designation system:

The HX Line: The “HX” prefix stands for Huaxia, representing the empire’s cosmic scale. Double-digit codes are reserved strictly for the inner royalty. ⁠HX-01 天子⁠ (The Son of Heaven) belongs to the Emperor, while ⁠HX-02 太子⁠ is the Crown Prince’s unit. Imperial Princes use the 10-series (⁠HX-1X⁠), meaning the Prince of Chu takes to the battlefield in ⁠HX-16 楚王⁠.

The Fenghuang Line: For female royalty, the letter F is introduced, serving as a dual shorthand for Female and the mythical Fenghuang (鳳凰/Phoenix). The Empress dominates the battlefield in ⁠HX-F01 鳳凰⁠, while Imperial Princesses field the ⁠HX-F1X⁠ series.
