Every part of the project was truly enjoyable, but one of the biggest hassles was fixing its proportions, and I was clear of what I was signing up for before I started.
The most obvious proportion fix is surely the legs, where I decided to widen the calfs and slim the feet. The wide calfs accentuates the NT-1’s special design of having leg boosters, while the narrow and “high-heeled” feet complements it by reducing the overall visual weight. The intention was to “modernize” the original chunky design.
Indeed, proportions are entirely personal. While some people adore the new proportions of Xi Gundam, some have disliked it and compared it to the “Mashin Unit”. For me, I’ve developed a liking for mecha with narrow feet and “high-heel” shoes, probably due to the influence and exposure in Five Star Stories!🤣 @lesliemodeller
Not sure how my liking for proportions will develop over the next years. But I can be sure that learning from other mecha series/ designs is definitely not a bad thing!”
