Modeler Word : “I tried to balance adding elements of the Crossbone design aesthetic without changing the overall look of the Calibarn. The main modifications include:
Vfin – I reshaped the vfin to make it narrower and added a mini skull and crossbones to the front of the head.
Skulls – to sell the pirate Gundam vibe I added INCOMs shaped like skulls to the shoulders. I think the idea of wire guided INVOMs is very UC and making them skulls sells the look of Crossbone. I also tried to add a subtle skull shape to the chest.
Armor – the witch from Mercury kits don’t really have a lot of hip armor, which is such a strong UC aesthetic. So to sell the UC look I added front skirts, back skirts, and pointy ankle armor.
X Booster – when I first saw the Calibarns originally rifle it reminded me of the Crossbone x booster. So when the theme for this contest was announced I knew what I had to build.”
